The new iPhone 4s

iPhone 4sThe release of the iPhone 4s was one of the most highly anticipated releases of 2011. Four million iPhone 4S’s sold in the first three days and many other iPhone users upgraded to the new ISO5 software, which uses a ‘Locating’ app to track you and your phone no matter where you are.

However, there have recently been thousands of complaints about the iPhone tracking device. Many people believe that it can be seen as an invasion of privacy as anyone can track where the user of another iPhone is to a 0.5mile radius! Also with the new Siri app teamed with the ‘find my friends’ application it is easier to locate other Siri users.

Conversely, the automated voice control app Siri has been a huge hit with users, that is, apart from Australians! At the release they could not use the app as it wasn’t familiar with the dialect.  The problem has now been rectified, creating a phenomenon in the smart phone world making them now widely available to people with disabilities, resulting in 64% more of the phones sold world wide now with 73.7 million + owning iPhones globally!

This expansion has created a huge growth in the need for mobile websites and smart phone apps so that the site is easily accessible by iPhone users. Currently on the App Store there are around 500,000 apps now available, with 39% of these being retail sites.

The growth in the use of apps world wide has meant that people can now access sites on the go with a resulting increase in site traffic and consequent boost to sales and services. With 1 in 4 people using their phones to purchase online, this is probably the way most people will be shopping in the future!
